Chocolate OG by Wellman Farms/Farmers Friend

On opening the bag the aroma that hits the nose is earthy, floral; reminiscent of old-school indica, even suggesting the gentle relaxation of beasters...upon lighting up, however, it's a different story!     While myrcene is the dominant terpene, relatively lower levels of caryophyllene still make a strong presence up front, hitting with that spicy, bitter kick in the wasabi receptor that tells you you're getting high; moving on to sweet notes of tropical fruit from pinene and limonene, and into a flowery, chocolatey, smooth blast of myrcene; settling into a dirty, grassy bottom that's OK because you can feel it radiating a pleasant high from the essence inside the bud, even without super-high terps and cannabinoids, it's just a kick-ass strain.

Jelly Pinwheel

by Wellman Farms' budget line Farmers Friend [I was having trouble finding the page my notes were on in this chaotic 3-subject notebook, but here it is! I had wanted to post it last week after reviewing the  Northern Lights  from these guys as well. If I couldn't find it I would have said overall that the Jelly Pinwheel was stronger (and perhaps more flavorful) than the NL, but not necessarily better. ]     Smells really good right outta the bag, more fruity & tropical than the Northern Lights, with some of that reflected in the taste; but also there's that old-school weed taste, and the spicy burning potent body high more incapacitating, definitely not 'energizing' but still---how to say?          No clever words today.     I can barely move.          Don't respond to others verbally.     This is good shit.     At best I can grunt and squint my eyes to communicate.   ...

Cake Crasher

Cake Crasher by Harbor House Collective     I wasn't sure what to get, but with $40-some in my wallet and it being Tax-free Tuesday, I knew I wanted some premium flower today. Tired of nickel-and-diming it lately...anyway, this seemed like the best bet---haven't had anything in the wedding cake family in a while. It sure has that fresh dank smell you'd expect---much more flavor than I've gotten on opening a bag of Harbor House in a while; recently their Runtz was disappointing and did not represent the strain well. This is different. While I read different reviews, and some people call this strain a sativa, replete with anxiety and/or busybody syndrome (two things I definitely did not need after work today) the genetic logic would seem to support those that claimed it had a more indica/hybrid effect, inducing munchies, couch-lock, and gregariousness. This is what I was hoping for.     The smoke itself was real good. These dessert-flavored strains tend to do it ...

Northern Lights

Image
Northern Lights #5 Farmer's Friend by Wellman Farms     Let me rip right into this one: I've got a lot to get off my chest (or is that just from the vaping?)---strains I've been meaning to review, political blogs I'm itching to write in this time of madness desperate for a Dr. Gonzo to cover it (and I would, if I had Thompson's free time or facility for amassing and then disregarding huge sums of debt,) a book explaining how God is a mushroom ---but I just never find the time. Even when I get high I keep going---there's always too much to do.     If you're like me and you appreciate a heavy, delicious indica at a good price, this is the break you've been waiting for. I know it says Tuesday, but the weekend's here, brothers & sisters. On opening the bag, nothing special; that usual new-sneaker-box smell I've come to expect from Farmer's Friend. The most recent stuff of theirs' I tried was the Truffle Monkey a couple weeks ago, which ...
