Weed Options in 2000

I first smoked grass when I was 15, in the year 2000...back then weed was very much illegal and even though as a white boy I was in less danger of being locked up (or worse) and in fact was treated differently by the police, it was still kind of thrilling to meet these random gangsters in Harvard Square and grab a dimesack...but of course the preppy rich kids in highschool sold the good shit.

Back then there weren't so many strains to choose from, and you almost never knew the strain or even whether it was sativa or indica; there wasn't much knowledge of terpenes but of course the nose is more powerful than science, and good weed did occasionally have a distinct aroma, but with the cheap shit there wasn't much left...

Basically you had:

"Mersh" - short for commercial - bud from Mexico compressed into giant bricks layed on the bottom of produce trucks under crates of citrus and avocados. Other OGs on the web call it "regs" for regular but I haven't seen or smoked this shit in a decade or two. Lots of stems and seeds; the worst of the worst, dimebags that were all powdery shake we called "schwagg". This is why old folks would always talk about records being better than CDs cuz you had room on the album cover to separate stems and seeds: and now I'm the old folks and what's a CD? How 'bout we take a break with my playlist on Spotify:

"Viper Mad" named for the opening track, recorded 100 years ago: slang for "crazy about weed" when everyone smoked that cheap Mexican grass except if they got their shit in New York from this Jewish guy Mezz

Maybe that's where "mids" came from

When mids was decent, better than mersch

Anyway check out my version
