OG Kush & Cookies Fam

The OG Kush and Girl Scout Cookies family of strains is some of the most important genetic background of the best new weed to smoke today, especially if you like indicas and getting really fucked up on your day off from work --- but they're also often great round-the-clock strains that, when used in moderation, can help with all sorts of physical and psychoemotional pain, stress, or blockage, even if you got shit to do: particularly the Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) fam...originally these strains all have a common mother or 'Eve' in Chemdawg, the legendary strain from which Sour Diesel and many other 'gassy' or 'chemical' tasting and so-named, really funky stuff, that leans kinda more sativa and can get you really paranoid and tripping out, with a flavor that is very distinctive and connoisseur but rather an acquired taste...but from Chemdawg comes OG Kush, a strain whose origins are as mysterious and varied and contested as its unimprovable bouquet and stress reduction, but many say was first grown in Florida, a state that has made several important contributions to cannabis growing, although the only weed I ever bought in Florida was a dime of some Mexican commercial shag from some guy who rolled up in the parking lot of Red Lobster 20 years ago when I was a teenager having dinner with my cousins  down south.

There are numerous distinct 'cuts' of OG itself; as well as some dispute over what 'OG' stands for ---ultimately everyone knows it means 'original', which is ironic, since its origins are uncertain...some say OG stands for Ocean Grown and argue that it actually originates in California...in any case, SFV OG or San Fernando Valley OG is one branch of the beautiful World Tree that is OG Kush, and from which descend a whole line of killer weed: Larry OG, one of the most incredible hybrids I have ever smoked, though it's been a couple years now, I gotta get my hands on some more to confirm, from which in turn Purple Punch descends, a decent strain in its own right (the only time I tried it was some cheap shit but despite being dry and stale and lacking a full terpene presence and lower in THC than I was accustomed to, it still did the trick, I was satisfied from one bowl...but some great strains derive from Purple Punch: Modified Punch, Papaya Purple Punch, and Mimosa are some essentials---you can read more about the SFV line by clicking the strain name earlier in this paragraph or by clicking here.

Ghost OG is another cut of OG that I have tried and reviewed here at Rolling Stoned. The shit is bomb: potent enough to put a veteran stoner of heavy indica out like a light, delicious as lemon candy on a day off from school, possibly even better than their Gelato.

Another is Oakstradam. I walked into my dispensary about a year ago and wanted to get some more of the SFV but they were out. They did have the Oakstradam, also by Originals, and the budtender somehow talked me into it with the line,

"It's not my favorite cut of OG, but it's still an OG cut..."

Haven't seen that guy in a while. I wonder what he's up to.

Skywalker OG is another that Originals put out. Although I've never tried theirs, my neighbor gave me some that he grew outdoors one time. I didn't cure it properly but it was still decent indica, a little dirty to smoke but you still got a sense of the linalool etcetera, and it reminded me of the shit I used to put in my pipe back in Junior year of highschool, a quarter of a century ago...

GSC or Girls Scout Cookies was bred from an OG cut crossed with F1 Durban (of Durban Poison descent) and itself comes in multiple cuts. I tried the Thin Mints, a cut of GSC, a few years ago when I was still getting from my friend who got it from "his guy" on the black market and so, typically a lot of the stuff was dry and not showcasing the characteristic terpenes of a given strain, but that shit had a really minty flavor that I don't particularly love, but at least it had the flavor and if you like that expression of caryophyllene as mint, personally I find it kinda harsh but in any case it did do the trick.

My favorite Cookies descendant though is GMO, or Garlic Cookies. Almost anything garlic I have tried has been bomb; I would especially like to mention the Modified Punch.

Sherbert; LCG;  Gelato is one of my Fave Strains of 2024 Originals grows some great Gelato, then there's the Cure Co. who put out their own signature cuts, Curelato and Bolato.

Via snowman, 2090 shit, one of the few strains of cheap weed by Perpetual I kinda like...

Through Animal Cookies and SinMint, Animal Mints which is the parent of Wedding Cake or Triangle Mints #23, which brings us back to Florida...I love every Wedding Cake I've had, from cheap brands, shit with seeds in it...it's still awesome. I love it. Now I wouldn't say that about every Cake descendant

Cake Crasher was good but the Cake Grenade, not, which the young female budtender with pink hair, half my bodyweight and not as enthusiastic about strong Indica, nontheless echoed my sentiments...
